In keeping with our core value of cutting edge, we are proud to be one of the few eye care providers in the nation offering myopia management to their patients.  Myopia, or nearsightedness, is not just needing glasses or contacts to see far.  Myopia is actually a risk factor for eye diseases such as retinal detachments, cataracts, glaucoma, and myopic maculopathy.  With increased screen time and less time spent outdoors, myopia has dramatically risen in recent years.  That’s the bad news.  The good news is that we now have tools to slow down myopia progression in kids aged 8-12, thus lowering their risks for eye diseases.  Through either the use of a daily eye drop, or special soft contact lenses, patients can expect to see a reduction in myopia progression by as much as 58%.  See what Sarah Michelle Gallar has to say about myopia management.  Also, check out this short video from our doctors about the risks and treatments for myopia.
